From general cleaning to garden and grounds maintenance, to hygiene & washroom service, to smarter, more eco-friendly toiletry supplies, Spree has continually shaped the industry with leading edge innovations for more than a quarter of a century.

It all Started a Quarter of a Century Ago

From that humble beginning, the story begins with a small company running from the living room of one man’s home and himself as the technician travelling the Melbourne suburbs steam cleaning carpets for many of his beloved customers. A quarter of century later Spree Enterprise has grown to have in excess of 100 employees and 38 3rd party partnerships & provides best-in-class cleaning and facility maintenance services to customers in a wide variety of markets including corporate/commercial, industrial, public & government, retail, shopping centres, high rise apartment buildings, public venues & elderly care facilities.

From the Humble Beginning

The story begins in 1981 when Tony Ristevski the founder of Spree Enterprise set off with an aspiration to create a small business that he could be proud of. By 1984 Tony quickly noticed many of the nation’s larger commercial and industrial based organizations where looking to outsource their non-core actives. It was then he decided to switch his focus from carpet cleaning to commercial cleaning because he recognised the value provided by long-term contract revenue. Within 18 months the market continued to emerge at a phenomenal rate, shaping the way for the expediential growth of Spree Enterprise. By late 1986 Spree had secured some of Melbourne’s most prestige’s contracts with Mobil, Ultimate Computers, Public Transport Corporation & the Herald Sun. However when the recession hit in the late 1980’s early 1990’s, Spree Enterprise felt the brunt as several clients downsized and others just didn’t survive. By 1999 Spree’s decline in revenues and decaying business opportunities started to turn around. Once again with Tony’s passion, motivation and drive for success he started to re-build the company. However Tony very quickly realized that the industry had suffered many underlying changes and he was going to need help on his new journey. He was then joined by son David Ristevski to re-build his much-loved business.

The New Generation – Building Greatness

It was in mid 1999 when David Ristevski joined Spree Enterprise after the completion of his tertiary studies and a short stint as the Marketing Manager at Optus. It was the beginning of a new era and soon after David’s introduction, his entrepreneurialism and vision for the business emerged, with the development of new multi-level initiatives both internally and externally, along with a new 3 year strategy. By 2003 Spree Enterprise achieved 92.5% of its goals it set in late 1999, including revenue & people growth and the development of synergistic service fulfilment programs. So in September 2003, David decided he would depart Spree Enterprise in pursuit of autonomous business opportunities, some here in Australia whilst others where abroad. In 2008 after many tribulations, David made the decision to re-join Spree Enterprise and return to the full time role as Chairman & CEO. Once again David re-assed the business and he simplified the company’s’ core competencies business model and articulated a 4 year strategy. It is a 4 year strategy that will strategically position Spree Enterprise for aggressive growth in all areas of its business. The key objectives will be increasing and developing synergies in the scope of services offered to customers and developing new and innovative service solutions for niche segmental markets. The most recent development is the Go Clean Go Green cleaning program which focuses on delivering eco-friendly cleaning solutions.

Road Map to the Future – The New Paradigm

The new strategy will focus on transforming Spree Enterprise from just a cleaning company into a multi-faceted provider of integrated facility services, however since its earliest days our company’s values have not changed and we still rely on our experience, intelligence and management excellence combined with a little inspiration to create a unique platform that gives our clients the power to harness the best-in-class cleaning and facility services. Our industry leading innovations offer our clients, suppliers, partners and communities an opportunity to participate in the new age of cleaner, healthier and safer workplaces with the ease, simplicity and increased efficiencies.

Today, Spree Enterprise is continuing the development of innovative strategies that integrate facility fulfilment service solutions, focusing on delivering optimised efficiencies across a multitude of vertical industries and working as partner with our clients to help them shape their workplace and facilities for the future.
